Case Auto-Naming lets you choose how CoVet names your cases automatically, including which details appear and the order they appear in.
Customizing Case Auto-Naming in CoVet
By default, CoVet names new cases using the patient name, signalment, main issue, and the client’s first and last name.
For example: Bella (3y MN Labrador) - vomiting - John Smith
The client name appears at the end so the patient and clinical details remain easy to scan in your case list.
This default applies only if you have never saved a custom Case Auto-Naming formula.
If you have already customized and saved your naming formula, your existing settings will stay the same. If client names are not appearing in your case names, you can add Client Last Name to your formula from your Case Auto-Naming settings.
Client names can also be included on cases imported from your PMS. CoVet uses the client information associated with the imported appointment.
Customizing the Auto-Naming Formula
Access Settings (or click the gear icon next to every case’s name)
Click My Account.
Go to Personalization.
Select Case Auto-Naming.
Choose Elements
Select the elements you want to include in your case names.
You can add elements such as Client Last Name or Case Number.
Arrange Elements
Use the two horizontal line icon to drag and drop elements into your preferred order.
You can also add punctuation and other characters to adjust the format.

As you make changes, the example below will update to show how your case names will appear.
Click Save when you are finished.
Applying the New Formula to Existing Cases
Your saved formula will automatically apply to new cases.
To apply it to an existing case, click the two arrows in a circle next to the case name. This regenerates the name using your current formula.
You can also regenerate a case name when the main issue changes as more information is added.
Resetting to CoVet's Default Settings
To return to CoVet's default auto-naming formula, click Return to original CoVet.
If you previously saved your own naming formula, CoVet will continue using it until you change it or return to the default.
