GOT Billing Suggestions in CoVet

For vets in Germany: review the GOT 2022 positions CoVet suggests from your consultation recordings, then confirm, reject, edit or add positions before billing.

CoVet can suggest GOT positions for the services you performed during a consultation, so you can review billing for a case in one place instead of looking up each position in the fee schedule.

What is GOT-Billing?

The GOT (Gebührenordnung für Tierärzte) is the official fee schedule for veterinary services in Germany. It lists every billable service as a numbered position.

After CoVet transcribes your recording, it identifies the clinical actions you performed, such as an examination, an injection or a wound treatment, and suggests the GOT 2022 position that matches each one. You then confirm, reject or change each suggestion.

CoVet only suggests positions that exist in the GOT catalogue, and only positions that apply to the species being treated. If no position fits an action, CoVet leaves it without a suggestion instead of guessing.

Who can use it

GOT-Billing is turned on automatically for CoVet users whose account country is set to Germany. You don't need to change any settings to start using it.

How it works

1. Record your consultation

Record the consultation in the Case Page as usual. Describing what you do out loud, for example "I'm drawing blood for a complete blood count", helps CoVet identify each billable action.

2. Let CoVet transcribe the audio

When you stop recording, CoVet transcribes the consultation and identifies the actions that were performed. Services that were only discussed, such as a surgery you recommended for a later date, are not suggested.

3. Open the Billing tab

Open Tasks in the case and go to the Billing tab. You'll see one row for each action CoVet found, with its suggested GOT position.

4. Review each suggestion

Each row shows the following information:

Field

What it tells you

Action from the recording

The service CoVet identified in your consultation, for example "Blood draw" or "Subcutaneous injection".

GOT position

The suggested position number, together with its part of the catalogue (Teil A, B or C) and section title, for example "Grundleistungen".

Confidence

How certain CoVet is about the match: high, medium or low. Check medium and low suggestions carefully before confirming them.

5. Confirm, reject, edit or add positions

To do this

Do this

Accept a suggestion

Click the checkmark to confirm the position.

Remove a suggestion

Reject or delete the position if it doesn't apply to the case.

Change a suggestion

Edit the position and search the GOT catalogue for the correct one. Search results show the GOT number and only include positions for the patient's species.

Add a missing service

Search the GOT catalogue and add the position manually.

Refining suggestions with custom instructions

You can use your Billing custom instructions to guide how CoVet suggests GOT positions, for example to reflect how your practice bills certain services.

  1. Open your Profile.

  2. In Tools, click Personalization.

  3. Select the Task Management tab and add your instructions under Billing tasks.

For more on billing tasks and custom instructions, see Task Management in CoVet.

What GOT-Billing does not include yet

GOT-Billing helps you identify which positions to bill. It does not create an invoice: use the confirmed positions as an overview when you bill from your practice management system.

The following are not included at this stage:

  • Prices and invoice totals

  • GOT multipliers (the 1x to 3x factor)

  • Emergency, night, weekend and holiday surcharges

  • Medications (billed under AMPreisV) and consumables (billed under § 11 GOT)

  • Consultations with more than one patient, such as litters

  • Exporting or sending confirmed positions to your practice management system

You remain responsible for the final invoice. Always review the suggested positions before billing.

Tips for best results

  • Say the species and the procedures you perform out loud during the consultation

  • Name the specific test or analysis, for example "complete blood count" rather than just "bloods", so CoVet can suggest both the sample collection and the analysis

  • Mention the anesthesia method for each phase, for example induction and inhalation maintenance

  • Check medium and low confidence suggestions first

  • Use catalogue search to add anything CoVet missed
