You can use Offline Mode to record and organize visits even if you don't have an internet connection.
How to Use Offline Mode in CoVet (Perfect for Mobile & Rural Vets)
Whether you're out on the road doing large animal visits or working in a clinic with spotty Wi-Fi, Offline Mode in CoVet is here to make your workflow seamless, even without an internet connection.
In this guide, Dr. Mike Mossop walks through exactly how Offline Mode works, when to use it, and how to get your recordings synced once you're back online.
What Is Offline Mode?
Offline Mode lets you record and organize your consults even when you don’t have internet access. This feature is especially helpful for:
Mobile or ambulatory vets working in the field
Large animal vets on remote farms
Clinics experiencing internet outages
While you still need an internet connection to generate records and access full CoVet features, Offline Mode allows you to:
Record notes and case info
Save them locally
Sync and generate full records once you're back online
How to Activate Offline Mode
You can manually enable Offline Mode in advance, especially if you know you’ll be heading somewhere without service.
To enable Offline Mode:
Go to “My Account” in the CoVet app.
Scroll to find the “Offline Mode” section.
Toggle the switch to activate Offline Mode.
Once enabled, you’re ready to start capturing consults without needing a signal.
How to Create and Save Recordings Offline
Creating consults in Offline Mode is similar to the standard workflow. Here’s an example of how you might use it:
Example: Smith Farm
You’re evaluating three horses, they all need vaccines, and one has a right eye issue.
Tap “Add Recording.”
Title it something clear like “Smith Farm – Horse Vaccines.”
Save the recording.
Add More Recordings:
Move on to the next location, like Jones Farm.
Perform pregnancy checks on 10 cows.
Create and save another recording: “Jones Farm – Cow Preg Checks.”
All your offline recordings will be visible in a list format. You can play them back, but advanced features like generating summaries won’t be available until you’re back online.
Syncing and Generating Records Once Back Online
When you're back in an area with internet access:
Open the CoVet app. The offline recordings you made will still be saved.
You’ll now have options to assign or generate records from them.
You have two options:
Assign one-by-one:
Tap a recording.
Choose to add it to a new case or transfer it to an existing case.
Assign all at once:
Use the “Assign each record to a new case” button to automatically create new cases for all your recordings.
Once assigned, the app will analyze the audio and generate the relevant documents or summaries, just like it does when you’re fully online.
Important Reminders
You cannot generate records or summaries while offline.
You will receive an error if you try to generate without a connection.
Recordings remain safe and stored until you reconnect.
