How to Create Separate Records for Multiple Patients in a Single Consultation
Seeing multiple pets in a single visit? Whether it’s two cats, a pair of pups, or a whole flock of parrots, CoVet makes it easy to generate distinct records for each patient, even if everything was captured in just one recording.
Why Use Multi-Patient Mode
Multi-patient mode is ideal for:
Families with multiple pets
Littermates or bonded pairs seen in the same consult
Situations where the same conversation applies to more than one patient
This feature ensures:
Each pet gets a personalized medical record
Each record includes only the relevant findings, history, and treatments
Two Ways to Enable Multi-Patient Workflow
Option 1: Before Recording
This is the best method if you know in advance that the consultation involves multiple patient.
When creating a new case, look for the "Patient(s)" button at the top of your screen (next to Date, Assigned to, and Visibility options).
Click the Patient(s) button and enter the names of the patients (e.g., Bonnie and Clyde).
Click Save. This links multiple patient profiles to the same case.
Option 2: After Recording
Forgot to enable multi-patient mode? No worries.
Complete your recording as usual, but make sure to call each patient by their name.
Click the Patient(s) button at the top of your screen before you generate documents.
Enter the patients’ names.
Click Save, CoVet will now treat the single recording as a shared consult among all listed pets.
Recording Tips
You can freely discuss all patients in the same recording.
CoVet’s AI will detect which parts relate to each pet, as long as the pets are named or referred to clearly (e.g., "Bonnie is eating only canned food," "Clyde has vomiting issues").
Generating Individual Records
Once your recording is ready:
Click the Generate button.
Choose the templates you want to use.
Select each patient you want to generate a record for (e.g., Bonnie & Clyde).
CoVet will automatically create:
One record for Bonne, including only her relevant details.
One record for Clyde, with his individual information.
Example:
Bonnie (4 years old)
Eats canned food
Left shoulder examined
FVRCP vaccine given
Clyde (7 years old)
Eats dry food
Frequent vomiting
Periodontal disease
Rabies vaccine administered
Each summary is clean, personalized, and ready to review or share.
