Setting a default template helps you save time when you use the same template for most of your cases.
You can set a default template for general document generation, and you can also set a custom Medical History template as your default for Medical History generation.
What is the “Generate Default” button?
The Generate Default button lets you instantly create a document from your recording using your chosen default template. This saves you from manually selecting the same template each time.
For example, if you usually generate SOAP notes or client emails with the same template, setting that template as your default lets CoVet use it automatically.
Step-by-step guide
1. Set your default template
Navigate to My Account › Templates.
Find the template you use most often. This can be a Standard, Custom, or Advanced template.
Select the "Set as Default" button next to the template.
Once set, CoVet will use this template when you choose Generate from Default.
2. Generate a document using your default
Once a default template is set:
Start or pause a recording in a case.
Select Generate from Default.
CoVet will automatically generate the document using your default template.
Set a default Medical History template
If you use a custom template for Medical History, you can set that template as your default for Medical History generation.
This is especially helpful if you prefer your own Medical History format instead of CoVet’s standard Medical History template. Once selected, your custom template will be pre-selected automatically each time you generate a Medical History.
How to set a Medical History default
Navigate to My Account › Templates.
Find the custom Medical History template you want to use.
Click the gear icon next to the template.
Select Use as default for Medical History.
After this is enabled, CoVet will automatically use that template whenever you generate a Medical History.

To change your default template, return to Templates, find the new template, click the gear icon, and select the default option you want.
