Using Communication Feedback in Your Case

Get private feedback on how you communicated in a consultation, rated across eight communication competencies with examples pulled from your own recordings.

Written by Ana Ucedo

Communication Feedback reviews the consultation recordings you added to a case and gives you private feedback on how you communicated with the client. It looks at eight communication competencies, tells you which ones came through strongly and which ones have room to grow, and shows you the moments in your own transcript that led to each conclusion. Every competency also comes with a short learning module, so you can act on the feedback in your next consultation.

Results are yours alone. They are not shared with your team, your practice owner or anyone else on the account.

Where to find it

Communication Feedback sits in the Tools menu of each case: the Tools dropdown on desktop, and the More sheet on mobile.

What it needs

Detail

At least one recording

The case needs a recording that you added. Without one, Communication Feedback is still listed in the Tools menu but stays disabled, with the note “Requires at least one recording.”

Your own recordings

Only the recordings you added are analysed. In a case where several team members recorded, each person gets feedback on their own recordings only, and nobody sees anyone else’s.

The feature switched on

Communication Feedback is on by default. See “Turning it off and back on” below.

Platforms

Web, iOS and Android.

What you get

Each run produces one report for the case. It opens with an Overview, and below that sets out eight communication competencies in detail.

The Overview is there for a glance: a line or two on the consultation, then two short lists.

Overview section

What it shows

Main Strengths

Two or three things that came through well in this consultation.

Focus Next Time

Two or three places to put your attention in the next one.

Below the Overview, every competency carries a badge, written commentary and quoted examples from your transcript with the speaker and the timestamp.

Every competency carries one of these badges.

Not applicable

This consultation did not give enough to go on for this competency, so it has not been rated. It is not a negative result.

There is no overall score and no ranking against other users. The report is a read on one consultation, not a performance rating.

How to run it

  1. Open the case you want feedback on.

  2. Open the Tools menu and select Communication Feedback.

  3. The analysis starts on its own. You will see progress for each competency and for each recording being processed. A typical run takes around 30 seconds.

  4. Wait for the report. If you leave the screen before it finishes, on desktop with Cancel or on mobile with Back, the run stops and nothing is saved. You can start it again whenever you like.

Reading the report

  1. Start with the Overview. Main Strengths and Focus Next Time give you the shape of the feedback in a few lines, before any of the detail.

  2. Move on to the eight competency rows. They arrive collapsed, so you can see the full picture before going into detail. Use Expand all to open every row at once.

  3. Open a competency to see the commentary on the left and the transcript examples on the right. On mobile, these stack into a single column.

  4. Read the quoted examples. Each one shows who was speaking and when it happened in the recording, so you can place it in the consultation.

  5. Select Learn more on any competency to open its learning module.

Every learning module has the same four parts.

Running it again

Add a new recording to the case and run Communication Feedback again to get feedback that includes it. A new run replaces the previous report for that case, and only the most recent report is kept. Download the PDF first if you want to keep a copy of the earlier one.

Leaving the report and coming back to the same case shows you the report you already generated, rather than starting a new analysis.

Turning it off and back on

  1. Go to Profile, then Other Integrations and Connections.

  2. Find the Communication Feedback card. The toggle is on by default.

  3. Switch it off to hide Communication Feedback from the Tools menu in every case.

Turning it off hides the feature but keeps the reports you already generated. Switch it back on and they are there again.

Good practice

  • Run it on consultations you want to learn from, not only the ones that went badly. Main Strengths tells you what to keep doing.

  • Read the examples, not just the badge. The quoted moments are where the useful detail sits.

  • Pick one competency at a time. Focus Next Time gives you two or three candidates, and working on one of them across your next few consultations gets further than trying to change everything at once.

  • Treat it as one view of one consultation. It hears the recording, so anything that happened off the recording is not part of the picture.

  • Keep it for yourself. Reports are private by design. Share one only if you choose to, for example with a mentor.

Sources and safety

  • The badges, commentary and learning modules are generated by LifeLearn Sofie AI.

  • AI can make mistakes, so check anything that matters against your own memory of the consultation.

  • Communication Feedback is a reflective tool. It does not assess clinical decisions, and it is not a performance review or an assessment your practice can see.

  • The analysis follows your interface language. If the consultation was recorded in another language, the feedback still comes back in your interface language.

Support and feedback

CoVet support can help with switching the feature on, running it and finding your report. Comments on the feedback content itself go to the LifeLearn team for review.
