How to Use the Snippets Feature in CoVet
Welcome to CoVet! Our Snippets feature is designed to save you time and streamline communication by allowing you to insert pre-written, precisely worded text into your medical records with just a simple request. Whether you're crafting post consultation reports or providing client instructions, Snippets help you deliver consistent, accurate information — effortlessly.

What Are Snippets?
Snippets are reusable, pre-written blurbs you can insert into your records by asking CoVet directly. They’re ideal for:
- Common medication instructions
- Repeat client messaging
- Routine care reminders
- Any information you find yourself typing often!
Step 1: Enable Snippets
Before you can use snippets, make sure the feature is turned on:
Click on My Account.
Navigate to the Personalization section.
Look for the Snippets section.
In the top right corner, ensure the Snippets toggle is ON.
✅ Snippets are enabled by default, but it’s always good to check!
Step 2: Create a New Snippet
Click the New Snippet button.
You’ll see a template with a sample snippet – feel free to type over it.
Add the following:
Snippet Description (Top box): Describe what this snippet is about. This gives CoVet context when you refer to it later.
Example: “Note for clients about using gabapentin for sedation.”Owner-Facing Text (Bottom box): This is the actual message that will appear in your post-consultation report.
Example: “Gabapentin may help reduce your pet’s stress before visits. Please follow the dosage instructions provided…”
Select the Language.
You can create snippets in different languages for multilingual client communication.Click Create Snippet — your snippet will now appear in the list.
Step 3: Use a Snippet in a Record
Here’s how easy it is to use your snippet during a consultation:
Write your consultation notes as usual. For example:
“Today we saw Larry, a 5-year-old domestic short hair cat. He was very anxious, and I discussed sending home gabapentin to try again later.”Then simply ask CoVet:
“Please insert my gabapentin snippet.”
(Saying “please” is optional, but always polite! ?)Click Generate, and choose your output — such as Post Consultation Report.
In about 30 seconds, CoVet will generate the report and insert your snippet automatically.
Pro Tips
Precise wording matters: Make sure your snippet’s description clearly reflects its purpose so CoVet can match it correctly.
Editing after insertion: CoVet will place the snippet in a suitable location, but you may want to adjust formatting — add a line break or bullet point for clarity.
Multiple languages? No problem: You can create separate snippets tailored for different clients based on their preferred language.
Be creative: Use snippets for anything repetitive — from vaccine reminders to follow-up instructions to post-surgery care tips.
