You can use Offline Mode to record and organize visits even if you don't have an internet connection.
As of May 2026, CoVet automatically saves your work when you lose internet connection or cell service, so you can keep recording.
This is useful for mobile vets, large animal vets working in remote areas, and teams in clinics with unstable Wi-Fi or temporary outages.
You do not need to turn Offline Mode on manually. CoVet detects when you are offline, saves recordings and notes locally (i.e. directly in your case), and uploads them automatically when you reconnect.
What Is Offline Mode?
Offline Mode lets you record and organize your consults even when you don’t have internet access. This feature is especially helpful for:
Mobile or ambulatory vets working in the field
Large animal vets on remote farms
Clinics experiencing internet outages
While you still need an internet connection to generate records and access full CoVet features, Offline Mode allows you to:
Record notes and case info
Save them directly to your case
Sync and generate full records once you're back online
How to Activate Offline Mode
When CoVet detects that your device is offline, it switches automatically to Offline Mode saving after a short delay.
While offline, CoVet can:
Keep recording
Save recordings and notes locally on your device
Queue recordings to upload automatically when you reconnect
If your connection drops during a recording, it keeps going.
You will see an inline message below the waveform letting you know the recording has been saved directly to the case and will upload automatically once you are back online.
This means you can continue the consult without restarting or repeating the recording.
What Happens When You Go Offline and Reconnect?
When you go offline, the app will indicate that there is no internet connection and that your recordings and notes are being saved directly to your case.
You can:
Navigate through recent cases stored locally and add new recordings.
Create new cases and record new consultations. These will be marked as offline with a crossed-out cloud icon.
You cannot:
Navigate through the app or access any section other than the cases area.
The banner appears after CoVet confirms the connection loss, so brief signal drops do not trigger unnecessary warnings.
When you reconnect, you will see upload progress as your recordings sync. The banner disappears automatically when all uploads are complete.
When CoVet detects that you are back online, queued recordings upload automatically. You do not need to re-upload or manually assign them.
Upload progress is shown for each recording. Your upload queue also survives app restarts, so recordings are not lost if the app is closed and reopened before syncing finishes.
Once uploaded, cases are automatically assigned to you and their visibility is set to private.
If a Support user records offline, the cases are visible to the entire team once the recordings sync.
What Happens If an Upload Fails
If an offline recording does not upload after you reconnect, you can find it in the Offline Recordings tab in your Profile.
Where did the Offline Mode toggle go?
The manual Offline Mode toggle has been removed from Settings.
You no longer need to switch Offline Mode on before heading into an area without service.
CoVet now detects when you are offline and handles recordings automatically.
