Handing over a caseload at the end of a shift means covering a lot of patients quickly. Rounds lets you select multiple cases and generate a single handoff report, with one card per patient organized around the I-PASS handoff structure.

You can review, edit, sort, and download the report for use during rounds or a shift change.

Note: Rounds needs a connection. The Rounds card is grayed out when you are offline.

Where to find Rounds

Open the Cases page and look for the Rounds summaries card in the All Cases header row, alongside Ongoing and Unassigned.

Creating a round summary

  1. Select Rounds summaries at the top of each case. The rounding selection panel opens, showing cases from the last 24 hours by default. On mobile, this opens as a bottom sheet.

  2. Choose the cases you are handing over. You can use quick-select options such as All, Ongoing, the last 12 hours, or selections by team. You can also filter by visibility or search for a case. Any case your team has visibility on can be included, including unassigned cases.

  3. Select Generate Round Summary. This becomes available once you have selected at least one case.

  4. A progress view shows each case moving from Pending, to Generating, to Done. You can navigate away while the summary is being generated and return to it later.

  5. The Rounds handoff report opens with one card per case.

Tip: There is no hard limit on how many cases you can include, but larger selections can take longer to generate. CoVet lets you know when a selection may take a few minutes.

What's on each case card

Each case card follows the same structure:

  • Illness severity, tagged as Stable, Watcher, or Unstable, and code status, tagged as CPR or DNR

  • Patient header, including patient name and chief complaint, location, day and time, owner, and visibility

  • Problem list and recent course

  • Action items, including pending results

  • Contingency plans

  • Situational context, including phone contact, client communication, and financial context

Each report also includes a reminder that the content is generated from the information available in the selected cases, that AI can make mistakes, and that important information should be checked.

Reviewing and editing the report

Use View mode to review the report, or switch to Edit to correct or add to the editable content on a case card. Your changes are applied when you switch back to View mode.

To undo edits on a single card, use Reset changes on that card. Other cards are left unchanged.

Sorting the report

Rounds sorts by Unstable first by default. You can change the sort order to:

  • Stable first

  • Alphabetical, A to Z

  • Most recent or oldest first

  • Case owners

  • Teams

  • Manual sorting, where you drag cards into the order you want

CoVet remembers your last sorting choice and applies it the next time you use Rounds.

Downloading the report

Use the download option to save the report as a PDF. The PDF follows the on-screen layout, and individual case cards are kept together rather than split across pages.

Finding past rounds

You can return to earlier rounds in two places:

  • Previous Rounds: Open the rounding selection panel to revisit past rounds.

  • Rounds history: Any case included in a round gets a Rounds history item in its Case Content overflow menu. A badge shows how many rounds that case is part of.

Who can use Rounds

Rounds is available to users who can access the Cases page, including Support accounts and users on Essentials, Unlimited, and Enterprise plans.

When creating a round, you can select cases your team has visibility on. Access to an existing round can be broader than access to each underlying case, so you may sometimes be able to read a case summary within a round even if you cannot open that source case directly.
