The Animana integration imports your appointments into CoVet as cases. They appear on the Cases page, ready for you to begin working on.
Each case includes the patient information, owner information, appointment time, and assigned veterinarian.
There are four articles to help you set up and use the Animana integration. Use these links to jump between articles quickly.

Using the integration
How appointment assignment works
CoVet assigns each imported appointment to a vet using Animana's scheduling data. Each appointment is assigned to the CoVet team member mapped to that veterinarian during setup.
For this reason, only veterinarians appear in the user mapping list.
To check or change who is mapped to whom, open My Account, select Integrations/Connections, then click the gear icon on the Animana integration to open your PMS Settings.
One patient per appointment
Each Animana appointment carries one patient, so each imported case is for one patient.
Auto Import Cases
Auto-import pulls your appointments from Animana on a regular schedule, so you don't need to manually click Import & Sync each day.
During the initial integration setup, you'll configure your auto-import settings. You can adjust them later by following these steps.
1. Navigate to the Integrations page
Click your name, click Integrations/Connections, then click the gear icon on the Animana tile to edit the settings.
2. Configure your auto-import options
Use the Import Schedule dropdown to choose how often CoVet checks Animana for appointments, for example every hour or every 12 hours. Hourly imports suit clinics where appointments change frequently, such as emergency hospitals.
Use the Import date range dropdown to choose how far ahead to pull appointments, for example the next week.
Click Save Changes to confirm.
Your cases will now arrive in CoVet on the schedule you chose.
Check your integration time zone
In the same settings, the integration time zone sets the time zone your Animana appointments display in. Make sure it matches your clinic.
Choose what happens to cancelled appointments
When an appointment is cancelled in Animana, you decide what happens to its case in CoVet:
Delete the case if it has not been modified
Never delete the case
Always delete the case
You'll also find your case naming, case ownership, team mapping, and user mapping settings here.
3. Viewing imported cases
Imported cases appear on the Cases page. In tile view, each tile is one case and shows the key appointment details.
A purple arrow icon in the bottom right corner of a tile means the case is linked to its appointment in Animana.
Newly imported cases show an Empty badge in the top right corner until you add content. This badge updates automatically as you add documents, notes, or records.
To switch to List view, use the view toggle in the top right of the Cases page.
Manually Import Cases
1. Click Import & Sync
To bring in new appointments from Animana at any time, click Import & Sync in the top right corner of the Cases screen.
This pulls in new appointments and syncs any updates made in Animana.
CoVet won't duplicate a case that already exists, so you don't have to worry about clicking Import & Sync more than once. The Last sync time shows below the button.
2. Choose import settings and confirm
When importing, you can choose what comes in:
Import for yourself or the entire team. Import only your appointments or the whole team's.
Filter by team member (optional). Narrow a team import to one vet.
Select a date range. Choose how many days of appointments to import.
Then click the blue Import & Sync button.
3. Review the import confirmation
After a few moments, a confirmation screen shows how many cases were imported. Cases you imported before are marked as updated rather than new.
Importing Medical Histories
The Animana integration can add a medical history summary to each new case. This gives you relevant background before the visit without switching back to Animana.
1. Turn on the setting
Auto-import medical history is off by default. It is enabled per practice.
To turn it on, go to My Account, select Integrations/Connections, click the gear icon on the Animana integration, and open PMS Settings. Switch on Import Patient History (which is off by default).
2. Choose what goes into the summary
Once the setting is on, the Include in summary options appear. Pick the record types you want CoVet to include:
General consults (selected by default)
Notes
Visit forms
Weights, including body condition score
Lab results
Click Save Changes to confirm.
3. Where the medical history appears
Once Auto-import medical history is enabled, CoVet automatically generates the patient's medical history when their case is imported from Animana.
This works whether you use Import & Sync or have appointments imported automatically on a schedule. There's no additional step required.
In many cases, the medical history will already be available by the time you open the case.
Two documents appear in the case content feed:
A medical history summary of the patient's background.
A detailed history, grouped by record type. This includes every consult recorded for the patient in Animana. It's a larger file, so it takes a little longer to generate.
You can generate a new summary from the detailed history, the same way you would from any other input in CoVet.
Note: CoVet generates the medical history summary when the case is imported. The summary isn't automatically updated afterwards, so any later changes to the patient's Animana record won't be reflected in it.
