CoVet’s Dental Charts helps you automatically document findings as you speak and build a polished dental report.
You can add diagnosis and treatment details for each tooth, include images when you generate the report, and update those images and layouts before finalizing the PDF.
This helps you keep the record clear and control how supporting images appear in the final PDF.
Before You Start
To use dental charting, you first need to create a recording for a dental consultation.
Dental chart templates are available for Canine Dental Chart and Feline Dental Chart reports.
To begin:
Open or create a new case.
Create or select the recording of the dental consultation.
Click Generate
Select either the Canine Dental Chart or Feline Dental Chart template.
After you select the template, CoVet prompts you to upload images before the report is generated.
How It Works
1. Start from the Case Page
Open the case you want to work on, record a dental consult with CoVet, then click Generate report - from library - search for “dental”
Then select the template you want to use. Choose between Canine and Feline visual dental charts.
Would you like to test the chart without a real consultation? Import this raw text in a new case to test the Dental Chart generation.
Below is a sample script you can read aloud to test the dental charting feature.
It includes general dental findings, tooth-specific findings, treatments performed, and discharge instructions.
You don’t need to follow the wording perfectly the goal is to read through the case naturally and see how CoVet captures the details.

2. Review Diagnosis and Treatment Details
When you go over the generated chart, you can also enter details for each tooth using the separate fields:
Diagnosis (Dx) for diagnostic findings
Treatment (Tx) for treatment plans
These fields save automatically as you type, which helps keep your notes up to date during the exam.
3. Upload Images for the Report
After you select the template, a popup asks whether you want to upload images.
From here, you can:
Upload images to include in the report
Click Next to configure the images
Click Skip for now to generate the report without images
Click Never ask again to stop this popup from appearing for that template
4. Configure Image Settings
After uploading images and clicking Next, you can choose how the images should appear in the report.
Options include:
Image size, such as small or large
Captions for each image
When you are ready, generate the report and wait for CoVet to process it.
5. Review the generated report
After the report is generated, open it to review the PDF.
By default, images appear in a grid layout, with four images per page.
The default grid layout is useful when you want to include several images in the same report.
6. Edit images after generation
If you need to make changes, click Edit from the generated report view.
From there, you can:
Upload additional images
Delete existing images
Change the image layout
For example, you can switch from the default grid layout to a large layout that displays images full width.
After making changes, regenerate the PDF to view the updated layout.
Tips for Best Results
Record a clear consult specifying issues with relevant teeth.
Upload clear, relevant images that support the dental record
Use captions to add context for each image
Choose the grid layout when you want to include several images in one report
Use the large layout when an image needs more space
Always review the PDF after editing to confirm everything appears as expected
