CoVet’s Smart Search lets you describe what you’re looking for in plain language and surfaces the cases that best match, even when none of your search words appear in the case title.
Where Is Smart Search?
Smart Search is a new mode in the All Cases search bar.
Instead of matching the case name word-for-word, it matches the meaning of your description. It's available on iOS, Android, and web.
How To Use Smart Search
1. Switch to Smart Search
Open the All Cases page.
In the search bar, switch the toggle from Case name to Smart.
2. Describe what you remember
Type the way you'd tell a colleague. For example:
dog with seizures last summer
cat dental extraction with complication
senior labrador limping right hindlimb
post-op recheck after spay last month
You don't need exact medical terms or the patient's name — but the more specific the details (species, signs, timing), the better the match.
3. Review your results
Smart Search returns the top 10 cases, ranked by relevance.
The closest match appears first.
Tap or click any case to open it.
Smart vs. Case Name Search
Use Case Names when you remember the patient or owner. It's an exact lookup.
Use Smart when you remember the clinical story but not the name.
You can switch between modes any time without losing your query.
Quick Tips
Include species, signs, and timing when you can, they make the biggest difference.
If you don't see the case you expected, try rephrasing or adding one more detail.
If you don't see the Smart toggle, make sure your app is on the latest version.
