Account Switching lets each person use their own CoVet account on a shared workstation, without logging out and back in. Everyone sets a personal 4 digit PIN and switches with it.
Account Switching works as a mutual opt-in. You and your teammate each turn it on, set a PIN, and select each other. Each person stays in their own account.
Why Use Account Switching?
A workstation at reception, in an exam room, or in treatment may be used by many team members in a single shift.
Account Switching helps by:
Reducing repeated logout and login steps
Keeping work moving during busy handoffs
Keeping each person's work in their own account and under their own name
This feature is available to all users.
Set Up Account Switching
Account Switching is a mutual opt-in. Both people have to complete these steps and select each other before either of them can switch.
To set up your own account:
Open Profile Settings in CoVet.
Find the Account Switching section.
Turn on Account Switching.
Create your personal 4 digit PIN. Account Switching is not enabled until the PIN is saved.
Select the teammates who share a workstation with you, either individually or by team.
Selected teammates can enter their own PIN from this account's lock screen to switch to their own account.
For this to work, both people must enable Account Switching and select each other, either individually or as part of a team
What Happens After Set Up
Two messages appear on the Account Switching settings page to tell you where you are in the process. Both appear only while Account Switching is turned on.
Successful set up
Once switching is enabled and your PIN is saved, you will see:
“Selected teams can enter their own PIN from this account’s lock screen to switch to their own account.
For this to work, both people must enable Account Switching and select each other, either individually or as part of a team.”
Dismiss it with Got it. It will not come back, on this device or any other, even if you turn Account Switching off and on again.
Waiting on a teammate
After you dismiss that message, if nobody has selected you yet, you will see:
“You’re all set. A switch icon will appear next to your name once a teammate enables Account Switching and selects you.”
This clears on its own as soon as a teammate selects you, whether individually or through a team. You can also dismiss it with X.
Switching Accounts on a Shared Computer
When CoVet is open on a shared workstation:
Open the Switch Account option.
Select your name.
Enter your personal 4 digit PIN.
You will be switched into your CoVet account.
If your name is not in the list, the person whose account is signed in has not selected you yet.
Turning Account Switching Off
You can turn Account Switching off from Profile Settings at any time. CoVet asks you to confirm:
“This will disable the ability to switch between multiple accounts on a shared device via secure PIN.”
Turning it off stops switching on your account. It does not change anything about your teammates' accounts or their own settings.
Tips for Success
Set up your PIN as soon as you enable Account Switching.
Keep your PIN private and use one that is easy for you to remember.
Agree with the people who share your workstation that you will all set it up, so nobody is left waiting on someone else.
If you cannot switch into your account, check that you have enabled Account Switching, set your PIN, and selected the teammates you share a workstation with.
If you have done all of that and there is still no switch icon, the usual cause is that the other person has not selected you back. Ask them to add you in their own Account Switching settings.
