CoVet uses your device microphone to record consultations, so your browser needs permission to access it.

If recording isn’t starting, microphone access may have been blocked in your browser or device settings. It’s usually a quick fix. Follow the steps below to get recording again.

Two things to check before you get started

The first time you record, your browser asks whether app.co.vet can use your microphone. Select Allow. Browsers remember that answer for the site, so if Block was chosen once, the prompt will not come back on its own and the permission has to be restored in the browser settings.

Two quick checks before anything else:

  • Look at the left side of the address bar. A crossed out microphone icon means CoVet is blocked. Select the icon and allow the microphone.

  • Reload the CoVet tab after changing any permission. The new setting applies from the next page load.

Safari (Mac)

Safari > Settings > Websites > Microphone. Set app.co.vet to Allow.

If the browser permission is already on

Your device has its own microphone switch, and it overrides the browser. Check it there as well.

Still not recording

  • Another app such as a video call, a phone call or a recorder may be holding the microphone. Close it and reload CoVet.

  • Check that the headset or external microphone is not muted by its own button, and that the right input device is selected in your system sound settings.

  • Some extensions, VPNs and managed work devices block microphone access by policy. Try a private window or a second browser to confirm.

  • Create a test case and listen back to the recording to confirm the audio comes through clearly. More tips for reliable recordings.
