Setting up the Animana integration connects your CoVet workspace to your Animana practice. Appointments come into CoVet as cases, and the records you finish in CoVet go back to the right patient in Animana.
Once setup is complete, you'll be able to import cases, link them to Animana appointments, and export records back to Animana.
The integration is available for any clinic using Animana, and you can set it up during your free CoVet demo.
There are four articles to help you set up and use the Animana integration. Use these links to jump between articles quickly.
Setting up the integration
Important to read before exporting documents
Using the integration
1. Find your Animana Clinic ID
Your Animana Clinic ID is the unique prefix assigned to your practice in Animana. CoVet uses your Clinic ID to connect to your practice. You do not need to generate API credentials.
You can find your Clinic ID in two places:
Your browser's address bar. When you're logged in to Animana, your Clinic ID is the part of the web address before .animana.com. For example, in https://paws.animana.com, the Clinic ID is paws.
If you can't find your Clinic ID, contact IDEXX Animana support through the Animana Help Center.
2. Navigate to Integrations
In CoVet, open your Profile page, then select Integrations/Connections from the menu options.
3. Select the Animana integration
Click the Connect button to the right of the Animana tile.
Note: The Animana integration can be activated during a free demo. A paid subscription is not required.
4. Enter your Clinic ID and choose your team
On the next screen, enter your Animana Clinic ID and Activation Code
Then choose which team you are adding the integration to.
We recommend setting up the integration for your entire team. Team members can then use the integration without setting it up individually.
Once everything looks right, Save your configuration. A confirmation message appears once the connection is successful.
5. Map your integration
After the integration is enabled, CoVet walks you through three quick mapping steps so imports and exports behave the way your clinic expects.
Review users. Use the dropdown beside each CoVet team member to select their corresponding veterinarian in Animana, or choose “None” if no match is needed. CoVet uses Animana scheduling data to assign imported appointments, so only veterinarians appear in the dropdown.
Appointments that are not booked to a veterinarian, such as emergency or nurse appointments, appear in an unassigned column. You can assign this column to a practitioner in CoVet, or skip this step and update it later in your PMS Settings.
Review import naming. Choose how your Animana appointments are named once they arrive as cases in CoVet. Click a field to add it to the name: pet name, chief concern, breed, species, gender status, or client first name. Drag the fields into the order you want, then click Done.
The preview shows an appointment's name in Animana next to its case name in CoVet. The names may differ, but the case and the appointment remain linked.
Map your templates. Choose where each section of your CoVet template lands in the Animana consult. An Animana consult has History, Findings, Diagnosis, and Therapy, and CoVet suggests a match for each of your SOAP sections. Click Edit fields to change it. For the details, see Mapping Templates for the Animana Integration.
You can update these mappings after setup. Open Integrations/Connections, select the gear icon on the Animana integration, and edit your PMS Settings.
6. Complete setup and start using the Animana integration
Once you've reviewed your sample export, you'll see a confirmation message that setup is complete.
Your Animana integration is ready to use. It shows as connected on your Integrations/Connections page, and you can open its settings from the gear icon at any time.
Using the integration alongside the CoVet Chrome extension
The integration and the Chrome extension serve different purposes and can be used together.
The integration imports your Animana appointments as cases and exports finished records to the patient file as a consultation.
The Chrome extension handles custom protocols. Custom protocols are not available through the Animana API. If your clinic uses custom protocols, complete them with the Chrome extension.
The extension installs on supported browser versions. If it installs, it works with Animana.
For setup instructions, see Use the CoVet Chrome Extension with Your Web-Based PMS.
